Great post. Actually, I saw it first over at Thomas Hawk's "Digital Connection" blog, http://thomashawk.com/2005/04/need-for-personalized-television-i.html, where I commented at length his analysis. As usual, you've given me a lot to chew on. Hawk was suggesting the closed-captioning route for accessing content. I'm thinking that perhaps an engine that could strip the keywords out of the captioning metadata may help to zero in on the important stuff. Perhaps this, coupled with P2P video rating systems, may enable us to find what we're looking for.
